Bruce Giger Memorial Golf Outing
Bruce Giger had been involved in the lives of special needs individuals since his son Danny, now an adult, was young. To ensure Danny would have the recreational outlet and physical exercise he craved, Bruce became a leader in the world of special needs sports. Realizing that sports was a much needed outlet for Danny and other young children he coached, Bruce sought out available programs and spread the word of their existence to those in his community.
In 2002, Bruce and Danny joined the Dare Devils and Bruce later became its team manager. Under Bruce’s watch, the Dare Devils grew to almost 65 players, filling the ice to its capacity. Bruce did not look for accolades and awards. It was the faces of the athletes taking part in sports, overcoming challenges, being part of a team, and making friendships that were his rewards.
It seemed only natural to honor this unsung hero with a golf tournament in his name.
The Dare Devils family is proud to have known and honor this inspirational and wonderful man.
The Annual Bruce Giger Memorial Golf Outing is our major fundraiser and allows us to run a first rate hockey program for our players.
Team fundraising enables us to keep registration fees low for families who typically have high medical, rehabilitative, and therapeutic costs. Additional monies provide extended ice time, equipment, travel and coaching expenses, social activities throughout our season (September - April,) and a no cost one-day summer hockey camp. They also allow us to host our annual Frankenfest Tournament.
The 13th Annual Bruce Giger Memorial Golf Outing was held on June 24, 2024, at the Knoll Country Club in Boonton, NJ. The event was a record setting fund raising endeavor and will allow the team to have a successful 2024-2025 season. A special thank you goes out to our sponsors, volunteers, golfers, Stanley Cup Champion NHL'ers (Ken Daneyko and Milan Lucic) and to Andy Piccirillo and Joe Notare for running such a first rate event.
Frank and crew once again graciously offered their photography services and the gallery can be found in the links below.
Additionally, please see our 2024 Bruce Giger Memorial Golf Outing program book. Thanks again to all of the sponsors, volunteers and golfers!
